Job summary

CesiumAstro seeks a Principal Accountant, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting to own the company’s SEC filings, technical accounting judgments, and policy development in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

You will lead complex accounting matters, coordinate cross-functional reporting, and act as a senior advisor to management and external auditors. Strong GAAP knowledge and writing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or equivalent advanced certification.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting and technical accounting.
• Aerospace/defense or regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with audits in public-company or IPO-ready environments.
• Advanced SEC reporting knowledge; GAAP expertise.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Experience with FAR/CAS and government contracting accounting.
• Proficiency with ERP and reporting systems (NetSuite/Workiva/OneStream).
• Ability to advise senior management on complex accounting matters and communicate with leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own and direct quarterly and annual SEC reporting (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K).
• Coordinate the financial reporting calendar across Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Tax, Treasury, HR, Ops, IR and others.
• Prepare and review financial statements, footnotes, MD&A and disclosures.
• Ensure reporting compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC rules, Regulation S-X/S-K.
• Act as internal authority on complex accounting positions; advise management.
• Lead gap analyses and remediation for public-company requirements.
• Establish scalable reporting processes, controls and governance.
• Prepare internal materials for Senior Management and Board.
• Lead external auditors’ interactions and manage audits.
• Document accounting judgments and estimates; monitor new standards.
