Job summary

Union County Community Action, Inc. is hiring a Lead Teacher to lead 3- and 4-year-old classrooms in Monroe, NC. You will work with classroom staff and families to create a safe, engaging environment while maintaining a consistent weekday schedule and benefiting from comprehensive employee benefits.

The position starts at up to $20.56 per hour with a Monday–Friday 7:30am–3:30pm schedule, 40 hours per week. UCCA offers competitive pay, benefits, and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, and staff.
• Experience in preschool or early childhood settings.
• CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
• Create engaging learning environments and functional learning centers.
• Monitor and assess children’s developmental progress.
• Maintain accurate classroom and child assessment records.
• Partner with families through conferences, communication, and home visits.
• Supervise children in classroom, outdoor, and meal settings.
• Collaborate with Assistant Teachers, specialists, and support staff.
• Support children’s social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and CACFP requirements.
