Job description

About the Job:

1. Completed Associates, or enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. (3-4 yr old Lead Teacher)
2. Completed Associates degree or CDA in Infant/Toddler (2's/toddler Teacher)
3. Professional NY State Certification in Early Childhood Education B-2 (preferred).
4. 1 to 2 years of experience working with children (ages 2-5), preferably in a childcare or school setting.
5. Familiarity with Head Start, the Creative Curriculum, preschool assessments, creating lesson plans, behavior management, and early childhood practices.
6. Must be willing to complete paperwork including lesson plans, child assessments, child daily logs, and classroom logs.
7. Provide a safe, positive, creative, and nurturing learning environment at all times. Guide children to learn language, gain autonomy, interact socially, and participate in physical activities.
8. Keep parents informed of their child’s progress and growth.
9. Assist team members and volunteers in maintaining an orderly, safe, and attractive classroom.
10. Complete and submit all required paperwork and documentation as scheduled.
11. Delegate and assign tasks as described in the job descriptions and program policies. Encourage parents to be active participants in their child's education.
12. Ensure that all classroom activities are developmentally appropriate and carried out on a daily basis.
13. Handle emergency situations as designated by program policies and procedures.
14. Provide a setting that meets the individual needs of children, assess each child's developmental needs, and write individual lesson plans. Flexible, and work with colleagues in a professional manner.
15. Love working with young children.
16. Support the diversity initiatives of the school.
17. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
18. Requires minimal supervision.
