Job description

Reports To : Early Childhood Coordinator

Lead Preschool Teachers for our tuition-based program are responsible for planning, supervising, and implementing a developmentally appropriate early childhood classroom to meet the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of children. The teacher should be a team player, enthusiastic, nurturing, and have at least one year of experience as a lead teacher. Hours are Monday-Friday, approximately 20-29 hours per week.

Qualifications :

  • Must meet one of the following education requirements :
  • Valid CDA
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or a closely related field
  • At least 19 years old
  • 3 credit hours in Child Care administration
  • Ability to pass criminal history and childcare background checks
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (must be maintained annually)
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Accurate record-keeping abilities
  • Ability to fulfill responsibilities aligned with program goals
  • Ability to assess young children using program assessments and evaluation methods
  • Maintain positive relationships with parents/guardians and staff
  • Discretion with confidential information
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills in accordance with policies and guidelines

Responsibilities :

  • Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of the classroom program and child assessments using Creative Curriculum
  • Maintain a positive, appropriate educational program addressing social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans
  • Ensure compliance with State of Michigan licensing rules
  • Communicate daily with parents
  • Train and lead assistant teachers
  • Provide a consistent classroom routine
  • Implement experiential learning activities to enhance children's intellectual and emotional development
  • Provide positive guidance and discipline to support kindergarten readiness skills

Physical Demands and Other Duties :

  • Frequently lift or move children up to 60 lbs
  • Repetitively bend, stretch, and stoop
  • Work on the floor with children
  • Maintain constant sight and sound supervision of children
  • Other duties as assigned

Pay starts at $18.75-$21.75, depending on education and experience.
