Job summary

Schwieters Companies seeks a detail-oriented Prefinish Lead Technician for the prefinish department. You will prepare materials, operate automated paintline finishing systems and spray guns, monitor curing, and ensure high-quality finishes on all products.

Experience with automated finishing equipment, quality focus, and safety standards is preferred. The role involves supervising a small team, coordinating with the Warehouse Manager, and maintaining finishes from prep to final application.

Qualifications

• Lead/supervisor experience required or evidenced.
• 1-3 years operating automated finishing equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of liquid coatings and curing technologies beneficial.
• Ability to color-match and identify surface imperfections.
• Forklift experience preferred for material handling.
• Solid work history and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee fewer than 15 team members under Warehouse Manager guidance.
• Set up, program, and operate automated finishing machines and curing ovens.
• Mix and monitor finishes to correct viscosities.
• Inspect materials and finished parts for defects and coating quality.
• Maintain spray equipment and ensure correct formulas are used per work orders.
• Communicate progress with Warehouse Manager and improve efficiency.
• Handle inventory and order paints/stains as needed.
• Lead order fulfillment and ensure on-time delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.
