Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Precast Concrete Inspector II to lead plant quality control for precast and prestressed production, and on owner/agency projects as needed. You verify prestressing operations, review strength records, and accept or reject finished products per specifications.

Your role includes supervising Level I inspectors, maintaining QC records for PCI and DOT programs, and coordinating daily coverage across plants. Travel between plants is common.

Qualifications

• PCI Level II certification is required.
• Minimum 2+ years in a certified precast or prestressed plant.
• Experience with prestressing operations and strength records.
• Able to enforce shop drawings to specification.

Responsibilities

• Verify prestressing operations: strand certification, tensioning, elongation, detensioning sequence, and transfer strength.
• Review mix designs, batch tickets, and strength records.
• Accept or reject finished products against the specification and shop drawings; disposition repairs.
• Maintain plant QC records for PCI plant certification and DOT/owner programs.
• Supervise Level I inspectors; assign daily coverage and review their records.
• Act as outside eye on owner and agency assignments; ensure acceptance decisions documented.
