Job summary

Urban Sprouts in St. Louis seeks a Pre-k Teacher to lead a Reggio Emilia–inspired classroom, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. You design emergent, project-based curriculum, document children’s learning, and partner with families and colleagues to advance the school’s mission.

You will mentor co-Teachers, maintain attendance and licensing documentation, and integrate garden-to-table experiences while pursuing ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an early childhood classroom setting.
• Experience leading a classroom or readiness to step into a lead educator role.
• Knowledge of or interest in the Reggio Emilia approach, emergent curriculum, and inquiry-based learning.
• Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Commitment to reflective practice and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Daily Classroom Operations: Maintain high-quality child care standards and safe routines.
• Curriculum and Documentation: Lead emergent, project-based curriculum; document learning.
• Family and Child Engagement: Communicate with families; participate in conferences and events.
• Team Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities: Support staff; attend meetings and trainings; ally with leadership.
• Garden to Table Integration: Integrate garden and kitchen activities into learning when appropriate.
