Job Overview

Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is seeking a Lead Power Electronics Engineer. Relocation offered. The expected annual salary range is $105,000 - $154,000 a year, based on experience, qualifications, and market considerations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead power electronics design and development, taking full ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Design, model, simulate, and develop power electronics, including analog and digital circuits for power conversion and protection.
  • Develop technical requirements and create reports and presentations.
  • Build and test circuits, analyze data, and optimize designs for performance, size, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, PCB layout, and firmware engineers to develop and validate designs.
Basic Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 6 years work experience in power electronics designs and product development, OR Master’s degree with minimum 4 years experience.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in power electronics modeling, simulation, and analysis using tools like Simulink, SPICE, or PLECS.
  • Minimum 4 years experience with power converter hardware development and testing.
  • U.S. person requirement: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), refugee, or asylee.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS or Ph.D. in electrical engineering or equivalent with focus on power electronics.
  • Strong knowledge of power semiconductors, passive components (high-frequency magnetics, power capacitors), and analog/digital circuit designs.
  • Experience with modern converter topologies, including AC/DC, DC/AC, and DC/DC (both non-isolated and isolated).
  • Thorough understanding of PCB layout, EMC/EMI design practices, voltage clearance/creepage requirements, and insulation/interconnection techniques.
  • Experience in power electronics system development, including system architecture and requirements.
Skills & Position Criteria
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and technical documents.
  • Position requires up to 10% travel.
