CPS, Inc. in Greensboro, NC is seeking an experienced powder coatings chemist to independently lead formulation projects from concept through scale-up and commercialization.

You will develop and optimize powder coating formulations for a range of industrial applications, selecting resins, curing agents, pigments, and additives while collaborating with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and sales to meet performance targets.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Chemistry or related field is required or equivalent.
• 5+ years of direct industry experience formulating powder coatings.
• Experience developing thermoset powder coatings.
• Experience taking formulations from lab to commercialization.
• Strong understanding of coating chemistry, processing and performance.
• Knowledge of extrusion and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to design experiments, interpret data and troubleshoot.
• Excellent technical communication and collaboration skills.

Responsabilités

• Develop and optimize powder coating formulations for various applications and performance requirements.
• Select and optimize resins, curing agents, pigments, fillers, additives, and other raw materials.
• Design and execute laboratory experiments and troubleshoot complex formulation issues.
• Evaluate the relationship between formulation chemistry, processing, application, and coating performance.
• Work with powder manufacturing processes including premix, extrusion, cooling, grinding/classification, and powder handling.
• Lead technical aspects of new product development and commercialization projects.
