Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a Plumber Supervisor to oversee and implement a comprehensive plumbing maintenance program across the facility. You will perform maintenance on sewers, water distribution systems, building storm drains and other plumbing systems, and supervise plumbing work in construction and renovation projects.

Establish on-call procedures for emergencies, ensure compliance with standards, manage supply requirements, train new staff, and stay current

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air, water, gas or waste disposal systems.
• Relevant experience may substitute for the diploma on a year-for-year basis.
• Ability to supervise, direct, instruct and work with others.

Responsibilities

• Develops plumbing maintenance and repair program throughout the facility.
• Performs maintenance on sewers, water distribution systems, building storm drains and other plumbing systems.
• Supervises and installs plumbing and related systems in construction/renovation projects within the facility.
• Establish on-call procedures to respond to emergency plumbing maintenance and repair calls.
• Supervises the operation and maintenance of plumbing facilities sewage disposal equipment to ensure compliance with standards prescribed by the SCDHHC.
• Determines requirements for plumbing supplies and equipment and prepares justification for and requisitions all supplies.
• Remains abreast of new plumbing techniques, procedures and equipment in his functional area and recommends the procurement of and assists in supervising the installation of new plumbing and sewage disposal equipment.
• Orients new employees and administers training.
