Job summary

University of Houston- Local Maintenance Services is seeking a seasoned supervisor for plumbing maintenance and installation across university facilities. The role involves coordinating with supervisors, managing work orders, and ensuring safety and compliance with plumbing codes.

The position requires five years of related experience and a valid Texas driver’s license, with a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must meet security-clearance requirements and may be subject to a criminal

Qualifications

  • Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job.
  • All positions at the University of Houston-System are security-sensitive and will require a criminal history check.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates work assignments with the supervisor regarding completion, material needed and possible utility line interrupters; coordinates work with customer, University Police, FacilityPlanning, and other university departments.
  • Administers work orders, assigns work to plumbers and ensures that work is completed in a prompt, safe, professional manner.
  • Maintains inventory of valves, piping, saddles and other plumbing equipment and supplies.
  • Assists supervisor in completing all required reports and in conducting performance appraisals.
  • Directs personnel involved in the installation and repair, preventive maintenance & repair of all aspects of plumbing including fixtures, gas leaks, water leaks and sewer lines.
  • Distribute work assignments.
  • Interprets blueprint and construction plans (water, gas & sewer); ensure adherence to local plumbing codes.
  • Assists personnel with complex work assignments and inspects completed tasks.
  • Operates pressure test equipment to test installed systems for leaks, ensure that systems meet specifications.
  • Delegate responsibilities among personnel based on priorities to maintain efficient operations.
  • Supervises and/or coordinate work efforts with outside contractors for the University of Houston.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Description:

Provides technical guidance in training and directive activitiesof plumber engaged in the installation, repair and maintenance ofuniversity plumbing systems and fixtures. Pursuant to the State ofTexas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, workson, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires theability to maintain the security or integrity of the Universityinfrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinelyreviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuousconnections for the government or political apparatus of a foreignadversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintainthe security or integrity of the infrastructure.

MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuationand simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. asmight normally be acquired through attainment of a high schooldiploma or GED. Education verification will be conducted uponacceptance of an employment offer.
