Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Lead PLC Controls Technician to oversee field execution, startup, and commissioning of advanced automation systems in mission-critical data centers. Qualifications

• 5+ years in PLC controls or industrial automation.
• Strong experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, Siemens TIA Portal.
• Able to troubleshoot ladder logic, I/O, networks and PLC communications.
• Familiarity with SCADA/HMI systems and protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA).
• Experience with startup, commissioning, testing and troubleshooting.
• Past leadership of technicians or coordination of field activities.
• Data center or mission-critical project experience preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification or willingness to complete training.
• Ability to travel nationwide ~95% (occasional weekends/after-hours).

• Troubleshoot PLC programming, I/O, networks, control sequences, and system integration issues.
• Support SCADA/HMI integration, redundancy, network validation, and failover testing.
• Review PLC programs, drawings, and commissioning documentation.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors and commissioning teams.
• Oversee field quality, safety compliance, and project closeout.
• Mentor technicians and provide technical leadership throughout execution.

About the Opportunity: We're looking for an experienced Lead PLC Controls Technician to oversee field execution, startup, and commissioning of advanced automation systems within mission‑critical data center environments.

Candidates can live anywhere in the U.S., provided they're comfortable with approximately 95% nationwide travel. Company‑paid travel, lodging, and per diem are included.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead field technicians through PLC installation verification, startup, commissioning, testing, and system turnover.
• Troubleshoot PLC programming, I/O, communication networks, control sequences, and system integration issues.
• Support SCADA/HMI integration, processor redundancy, network validation, and failover testing.
• Review PLC programs, electrical drawings, network diagrams, and commissioning documentation.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and commissioning teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Oversee field quality, safety compliance, testing documentation, and project closeout.
• Mentor technicians and provide technical leadership throughout project execution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with PLC controls, industrial automation, or related control systems.
• Strong experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, Siemens TIA Portal, or similar PLC platforms.
• Ability to troubleshoot ladder logic, I/O systems, industrial networks, and PLC communications.
• Familiarity with SCADA/HMI systems and protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, BACnet, and OPC UA.
• Experience with startup, commissioning, functional testing, and system troubleshooting.
• Previous experience leading technicians or coordinating field activities.
• Data center or other mission‑critical project experience strongly preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification or willingness to complete company‑provided training.
• Ability to travel nationwide approximately 95%, including occasional weekends and after‑hours work.
