Job summary

Aura is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the AI Intelligence Platform, unifying data and enabling secure, private AI reasoning over millions of customers. You’ll own end-to-end architecture and drive actionable, scalable solutions using Python, TypeScript, and AWS.

You’ll guide complex initiatives from architecture to production, set high security and privacy standards, and influence across teams through technical leadership rather than management. This role is remote, US-based.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Deep experience owning systems end-to-end as the lead technical voice on large, complex projects
• Expert knowledge of software design, data structures, algorithms, and distributed-systems fundamentals
• In-depth knowledge of cloud technology and selecting the right tool for the job
• Experience building systems handling sensitive or regulated data with security/privacy as design constraints
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability and desire to learn new technologies in a fast-evolving AI landscape
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

• Design, document, and drive the architectural vision for the platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and alignment with business goals
• Own complex, end-to-end initiatives from design through production deployment and iteration
• Build the foundation unifying Aura's data into a trusted source for generating intelligence
• Architect how AI agents access and reason over sensitive data with least-privilege access and strong isolation
• Build systems that turn intelligence into personalized insights and actions for customers and families
• Make high-leverage technology choices balancing scalability, cost, and operational simplicity
• Establish engineering practices for security, privacy, observability, testing, and 운영 excellence
• Serve as a technical mentor, guiding on design challenges and system reliability without direct reports
