Job summary

PetDesk, LLC. is seeking a Principal Engineer, New Products to own the system design vision for a new business line. The role is hands-on and will guide architecture, data pipelines, APIs, and integrations across veterinary clinics, drug manufacturers, and industry partners.

You will lead a contractor team from day one, scale with process and AI-assisted development, and collaborate across Product, Engineering, Operations, and business leaders to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering, including 3+ years at staff or principal level or equivalent leadership.
• Hands-on C#/.NET and cloud-native development, including proofs of concept.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical vision, architecture, and long-term engineering strategy for the platform across integrations with third-party systems.
• Design and evolve a platform capable of supporting dozens of third-party integrations with pharmaceutical manufacturers and clinic systems.
• Architect data pipelines, APIs, and services enabling seamless data exchange between clinics, pet owners, drug manufacturers, and partners.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned with product roadmap planning.
• Scale platforms and teams through process, automation, and AI-assisted development rather than headcount.
• Oversee end-to-end execution of initiatives with timelines, dependencies, and cross-functional coordination.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide hands-on guidance for complex initiatives across multiple teams.
• Set technical standards for contractor teams, with potential growth to more teams.
• Build hands-on daily with AI coding agents and show how they shape design, build, and reviews.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks from third-party integrations, data quality, and performance.
