Job summary

Amrize is seeking a Night shift Lead Plant Mechanic at our Rockville Quarry in Rockville, Maryland. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain a range of fixed and mobile equipment, lead a team of mechanics, and ensure safe, efficient operations on the night shift.

Overtime and shift adjustments may be required. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of maintenance experience, a high school diploma or GED, and technical certifications in mechanical fields.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Technical certification or degree in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in plant maintenance or related role.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of mechanics to ensure efficient and safe quarry operations.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on crushers, conveyors, trucks, and other quarry machinery.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment issues.
• Oversee major equipment repairs and ensure minimal downtime.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with quarry management.

Lead Plant Mechanic

ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Night shift Lead Plant Mechanic to support operations at our Rockville Quarry in Rockville, Maryland. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, systems and machinery. Also maintain, install and repairs mechanical equipment and machinery. This position is a 2nd shift position with start time varying from 1:00pm-3:00pm. Overtime will be required and shift may be adjusted for business needs

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

• Inspects condition and operation of plant equipment and performs necessary repairs and adjustments. Reports required repairs or other findings to Area Manager.
• Adheres to all safety, environmental and company policies and procedures in completing daily tasks, and completes all required paperwork in a timely fashion.
• Completes work orders in a timely manner; installing, repairing and fabricating materials out of metal; ensuring availability and functioning of required items; and ensuring safety and resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Assembling pieces of metal together or repairing damage in metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape.
• Performs the appropriate plant equipment inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance for both fixed and mobile equipment.
• Responsible for preparing and welding steel and aluminum structures, appendages and equipment.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment including handling welding repairs.
• Conducts routine inspections of plant and mobile equipment and report findings to Area Manager.
• Prepares Plant reports as required and maintain an inventory of regularly used repair supplies or equipment.
• Assists personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
• Responds to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Performs required emergency repairs on production equipment required to address plant breakdowns.
• Performs repairs as required on plant processing equipment and performs maintenance on plant grounds as required.
• Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety.
• Rebuild or fabricate parts; repair electrical equipment.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE 'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or GED (required).

Field of Study Preferred: Technical certification or degree in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field (preferred). Required Work Experience: 3 years’ experience Travel Requirements: N/A

• Lead a team of mechanics to ensure efficient and safe operations of quarry equipment.

• Monitor and maintain inventory of tools, parts, and equipment for repairs.
• Conduct regular inspections to assess the condition of all equipment and machinery.
• Coordinate with quarry management on maintenance schedules and equipment needs.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.
• Stay updated on new technologies and maintenance practices to improve efficiency and equipment reliability

Additional Requirements:

• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
