Job summary

H+M Industrial EPC in Pasadena, TX is seeking a Lead Piping Designer to lead design tasks for heavy industrial projects. You will provide planning and direction to a team of designers, ensure designs comply with client and company specifications and codes, and prepare drawings and documentation to support construction and changes.

The role requires extensive AutoCAD/MicroStation experience, plus CadWorx/PDS and AutoCAD Plant 3D proficiency, with a focus on leading mid-size projects and enforcing

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience in heavy industrial projects.
• Experience with CadWorx, PDS and/or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Experience leading small to mid-capital projects.
• Thorough understanding of design and drafting standards and plant codes.
• Ability to review drawings and perform back-checks.

Lead Piping Designer

Core Job Responsibilities

• Provide planning and direction for other designers in project specific tasks.
• Ensure design compliance with respective client/company specification and codes.
• Determine control system specifications, software designs, and configurations.
• Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.
• Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc. to supervisor.
• Interact with designers and engineers within the mechanical group, and from other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction forces.
• Working with clients to resolve problems.
• Work within company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook as well as the H+M Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of AutoCAD and/or Microstation experience in heavy industrial projects
• Experience working with CadWorx, PDS and /or AutoCAD Plant 3D
• Experience leading small to mid-capital projects
• Thorough understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices
• Code and Plant Specific Standard knowledge/comprehension a must
• Ability for check and back check drawings produced by drafting personnel.
