Corthell Transportation LLC seeks a High Pole Driver to operate a lead pilot car with a high-pole system, ensuring real-time clearance verification and hazard communication ahead of oversized loads. You will test clearances, maintain radio contact, and review permits to prevent infrastructure strikes.

The role requires CDL consideration, availability for extended hours, and travel as needed to accompany transports with strict routing and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• P/EVO certification and defensive driving training.
• Age 18+ (21+ in certain states).
• Familiarity with high-pole setups and two-way radios.
• Willingness to travel and irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Run ahead of the oversized load to gauge vertical clearances and verify against bridges and overhead obstacles.
• Maintain constant two-way radio contact with the main driver and escort teams.
• Review transport permits, routing rules, and pre-trip survey instructions.
• Alert traffic to road restrictions, turns, and work zones.
• Inspect and secure high pole systems, warning lights, flags, and communication gear daily.
• Document route irregularities and coordinate safe passage through intersections.
