Qualifications

  • Must hold a PT degree and current Alabama licensure.
  • Minimum three years as a Physical Therapist with supervisory experience.

About the Role:

The Lead Physical Therapist is an important leadership role that is responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing physical therapy services. The PT assesses plans, organizes, and participates in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity of patients suffering from disease or injury. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. PCI Employees are expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs and departmental objectives, as assigned.


Leaders of the Poarch Creek Indians will consistently demonstrate the abilities to influence, innovate, flex their style, and problem solve.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Supervise Physical Therapy staff, including performance evaluations, scheduling, payroll, timekeeping, and leave approvals.

  • Lead and support daily therapy department operations while promoting teamwork and high-quality patient care.

  • Evaluate, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices.

  • Coordinate patient care with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes.

  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, and patient progress accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and accreditation standards.

  • Mentor, train, and orient new staff while supporting ongoing clinical competency and professional development.

  • Assist with department scheduling, supply and equipment management, and budget oversight.

  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model by promoting best practices, quality improvement, and patient-centered care.

  • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, community outreach, and other duties as assigned.


Core Qualifications:


  • Must possess one of the following:

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy

  • Master of Physical Therapy

  • Bachelor of Physical Therapy

  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Alabama or must be eligible to obtain Physical Therapy Licensure in the State of Alabama.

  • Three (3) years of employment experience as a Physical Therapist required.

  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in monitoring or coordinating the activities of subordinates including general supervision, performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, leave approval, timesheets, etc. required. Relevant experience directing or coordinating the work of Physical Therapist Assistants may be considered toward this requirement.

  • Must maintain current professional licensure in Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain licensure within ninety (90) days of date of hire.

  • Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain certification during the first week of employment.

  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.

  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.

  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.

  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.


Essential Competencies:


  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and privacy regulations.

  • Proficient with electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office.

  • Skilled in evidence-based physical therapy evaluation and treatment.

  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Committed to continuous process improvement and accountability.

  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Must be able to safely lift, transfer, and assist patients, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and perform the physical demands of the position.
