Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Lead Physical Substation Engineer (Remote) to drive engineering for new and ongoing substation projects across the United States. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, deliver conceptual designs, and ensure quality across electrical studies and drawings.

The role requires 8+ years in substation physical engineering, a PE license, and a strong background in high voltage design (12kV-500kV). Remote work within the US is supported.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience within substation physical engineering.
• Knowledge of substation physical.
• Experience with high voltage substation design (12kV through 500kV).
• Ability to interpret and apply IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client standards.
• Experience with relay settings is a plus.
• Knowledge of Protection and Controls is a plus.
• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• PE license is a must.

Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual designs and execution plans.
• Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules.
• Perform and document quality reviews for other engineers and designers.
• Prepare construction drawings, documents, calculations, and studies for medium and high voltage substation projects.
• Responsible for technical delivery of power delivery engineering projects or tasks.
• Prepare calculations, studies, and reports for substation and power systems projects meeting internal and client standards and requirements.
• Apply engineering design principles and practices including formulas.
• Work and coordinate with small multi-discipline project teams to execute substation projects.

Lead Physical Substation Engineer - Remote - US

We have an opportunity for a talented & ambitious electrical engineer to join us as our new Sr. Electrical Engineer focusing on physical substation projects. This position can be remote within the United States.

In this role, you will lead the engineering effort for new and ongoing projects. You will support multiple projects simultaneously and work closely with NV5 Substation Engineering leadership to ensure project success. You will be working in small project teams to provide exceptional customer service and quality in deliverables to our clients.

Responsibilities

Requirements

We are seeking the following qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience within substation physical experience.


• Knowledge of substation physical.


• Experience with high voltage substation design (12kV through 500kV).


• Ability to interpret and apply standards including IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client standards.


• Experience with relay settings is a plus.


• Knowledge of Protection and Controls is a plus.


• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.


• PE license is a must.
