Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Lead Phlebotomist to oversee day-to-day operations in centralized phlebotomy. Under the Supervisor’s guidance, you’ll coordinate scheduling, monitor service quality, and coach staff to meet laboratory policies and patient expectations.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification, and at least one year of experience with supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assists in hiring, training, and evaluation for phlebotomy service personnel.
• Teaches phlebotomy procedures to less-skilled personnel.
• Provides coaching and performance improvement plans for team members.
• Assists with communication and problem solving within and between departments.
• Performs all duties of a phlebotomist.
• Assists in maintaining staffing for phlebotomy services.
• Provides coverage during absences and vacations.
• Assists with updating the phlebotomy training program.
• Assists with maintaining policies and procedures relating to phlebotomy services.
