The role requires skilled venipuncture, adherence to safety procedures, and collaboration with nursing and medical staff. The position emphasizes independent work, participation in special projects, and maintaining smooth daily reporting.

Qualifications

• Completion of training program in venipuncture or medical assistant.
• High School Diploma.
• 2+ years prior venipuncture experience with competency in all areas of specimen collection.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for adequate staffing and on-time blood collections.
• Monitors workflow to ensure shift completion.
• Distributes venipuncturist/clerk assignments as required for workload.
• Maintains personnel records and orientation materials; assists in training and competency assessments.
• Communicates unusual occurrences or variations to supervisor.
• Follows lab policy on PPE, waste disposal, and safety protocols.
• Maintains inventory of reagents and supplies to ensure continuous workflow.
• Performs venipuncture, blood culture collection, and Blood Bank collation techniques.
