The role you’ll contribute:

The Lead Pharmacy Technician, working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, performs delegated duties, tasks, and functions associated with pharmacy services within the hospital. This role entails supervising the activities of the pharmacy department's team of Pharmacy Technicians and assisting in maintaining the pharmacy's operations. Additionally, the Lead Pharmacy Technician is responsible for ensuring pharmacy-related functions comply with hospital/department policies and procedures to provide optimal care. Serving as a subject matter expert, the Lead Pharmacy Technician also provides guidance across pharmacies and to clinical leadership, ensuring staff perform activities or tasks effectively.

  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and onboarding pharmacy technicians for all campuses.
  • Assist with the design and operation of the SIM lab, including curriculum development, for sterile compounding and hazardous training.
  • Assist with the design and operation of the SIM lab, including curriculum development, for various operating systems including Pyxis, PLX, and Epic.
  • Pharmacy Operation: Actively perform all pharmacy technician functions and maintain active proficiency in: * Standard work parameters * Operational programs * Dispensing and compounding systems * Hospital computer systems * Medication ordering systems
  • Maintain operational expertise in, and proactively lead the technician services provided by: * Central Pharmacy * Sterile Compounding * Non-Sterile Compounding/Repackaging * Delivery * Controlled Substances * Hazardous Medication Sterile Compounding * Quality Assurance & Sampling * ADC Support * Technician Inventory Check * Medication History * Supporting Clinical Services * Regulatory Compliance * RFID Technology * Purchasing and Contract Compliance
  • Accurately lead the utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems. Review electronic reports, manage ADC inventory, troubleshoot cabinet issues, and ensure proper medication dispensing and compounding activities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of practice experience in an integrated healthcare system of three or more hospitals
