The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, WV registration (preferably), a PTCB certification, and at least 3 years of retail pharmacy tech experience. You will assist pharmacists, manage inventory, and help patients with financial needs, while complying with state laws.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• PTCB certification and WV registration preferred, or candidates must be able to pass WV exams.
• Minimum of 3 years of prior pharmacy tech experience in a retail setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides friendly customer service.
• Assists pharmacist in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services.
• Performs dispensing functions with accuracy and efficiency including data entry, pill counts, fill, POS, third party rejections.
• Assist patients with getting financial support if needed.
• Follows policies and procedures to ensure patients are cared for and information relayed appropriately.
• Answers telephones quickly and with courtesy.
• Pulls and counts medication from shelves accurately and according to the label.
• Follows WV Board of Pharmacy laws.
• Maintains accurate patient records including allergies and updated insurance information.
• Assists in inventory management to meet patient and financial needs.
• Assists with prior authorizations including notifying patient and provider and working for resolution.
• Informs pharmacist of alerts from the pharmacy system (contraindications, interactions, allergies).
• Maintains sanitary and safe practices.
• Reports any allegations of impropriety to the Human Resources department.
• Remains free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
• Works with clinical pharmacy department and specialty staff on specialty prescription needs when necessary.
• Cope with mental and emotional stress of the position.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Assists in processes required by specialty pharmacy accrediting bodies.
• Assists in staff huddles and meetings.
• Ensures correct delivery of all patient's medications.
• Works with patient assistance technician on financial needs for patients.
• Assists with quality improvement process.
• Stays up to date with all training and licensing requirements.
• Assists with scheduling needs for pharmacy technicians.
• Assists in training of all new hires, as well as ongoing training.
• Helps manage drug recalls according to laws and regulations.
• Assists with managing and ordering necessary supplies for the pharmacy.
