Summary:

In addition to Pharmacy Technician duties, supervises, directs, administers schedules, and organizes the technicians of the Pharmacy Department. Ensures adequate training and competence of Pharmacy technician staff. Maintains a customer focus and promotes patient and employee satisfaction.

Position Responsibilities:
  1. Provides direction and guidance to pharmacy technicians and is a role model of Star Behaviors.
  2. Provides instruction to and assists in any training of new and existing pharmacy technicians; assuring on-going competence.
  3. Assists manager/director with performance appraisals and completing competencies on time, setting goals and forming action plans as appropriate.
  4. Supports individual and departmental achievements through the use of recognition methods.
  5. Coordinates the scheduling of staff personnel to ensure appropriate staffing levels to include rotating shifts, call outs and shortages.
  6. Identifies and implement improvement opportunities that contribute to the betterment of the overall operations.
  7. Coaches employees regarding operational, technical and behavioral issues on a regular basis.
  8. Assists manager/director in dealing with inappropriate employee behavior or actions in a direct and confidential manner.
  9. Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements.
  10. Develops and operates within budgetary guidelines.
  11. Orders supplies and maintains par levels and identifies ways to decrease costs and maximize performances and/or new sources for revenue.
  12. Demonstrates appropriate and effective use of pharmacy and hospital based computer programs and adheres to all policies and practices regarding confidentiality of all electronic communications.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

Minimum of 2 years experience in hospital pharmacy.

Required Education:

High School or equivalent.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician).
