Qualifications

Job description

The Lead Pharmacy Technician shall be responsible for pharmacy ancillary staff (including Pharmacy Interns, Pharmacy Students, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Clerks, and Pharmacy Messengers) and shall supervise, coordinate and direct related activities of the pharmacy ancillary staff in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager and/or Pharmacy Director. He/She shall be responsible for the operational accuracy and timeliness of medication distribution throughout the hospital. He/She shall work collaboratively with the Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacy Director to improve the quality of care, strengthen financial performance of the pharmacy, and to promote and maintain exemplary customer service. He/She shall be instrumental in training the pharmacy ancillary staff regarding the department policies and procedures. He/She shall conduct ongoing assessment and performance of staff in achieving compliance with federal, state and accreditation rules and regulations.

Required Skills
  • Possess knowledge of California Board of Pharmacy, Title XXII, CIHQ standards and regulations.

  • Good verbal/written communications and ability to prioritize is required, with the ability to effectively apply this knowledge in the hospital setting.

  • Possess knowledge of policies governing the use of Controlled Substance, medication related polices/procedures, and ability to work in a team environment is required.

Required Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school for pharmacy technicians recognized by the California State Board of Pharmacy, and possesses a California Pharmacy Technician Licensure in good standing.
  • A national certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, and completion of an AA degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years working experience as a California Registered Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting with project implementation background.
