The successful candidate:

Under supervision, perform the technical and non‑judgmental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record‑keeping, and inventory control within the hospital Pharmacy or Outpatient Care Clinic. Tasks may be subject to sequential or final verification by a manager, RN, mid‑level provider, or physician.

Job Responsibilities
  • 30% – Lead in the selection, preparation and stocking of medications and supplies. Collect and verify patient information and proper physician authorization.
  • 40% – Prepare dosage medications by compounding or admixing medications for dispensing into bottles and unit dose packaging. Count controlled substance medication inventory weekly and maintain records. Check drugs monthly for outdate and other quality assurance activities as assigned and maintain accurate documentation to support these activities.
  • 20% – Perform basic to complex pharmaceutical calculations. Properly record lot numbers, expiration dates, and volumes of all medications used in compounding for each product prepared.
  • 10% – Provide assistance to lower‑level Pharmacy Technicians who may be assigned to assist. Ensure that other Technicians assigned to assist have the resources and training necessary to perform their jobs effectively. Perform other related duties, within the scope of this leveled job, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree required.
  • Clear understanding of technician-related pharmacy law.
  • 5 or more years of pharmacy technician experience required; oncology pharmacy experience preferred to include chemotherapy compounding knowledge.
