Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
• Licensed Pharmacist in good standing with the state of Michigan.
• Must complete required continuing education hours for re-licensure every two years.
• Pharmacist In Charge must work at least 8 hours per week in the pharmacy.
• Must complete an application from the State of Michigan and be recorded as such with the state.
• Basic word processing skills and able to operate hospital programs used in the Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, interprets, and fills prescriptions and consults patient drug profiles for allergies or interactions.
• Verifies orders with physicians and notifies of potential problems with dosages or contraindications.
• Provides clinical information and troubleshoots drug-related issues to physicians, nurses, and staff.
• Maintains patient profiles and updates with orders and allergies.
• Maintains knowledge of pharmacy developments and fulfills continuing education requirements.
• Supervises all activities of pharmacy employees and oversees procurement, storage, dispensing, and distribution of drugs.
