The Lead Sonographer performs a wide variety of leadership, technical, and professional duties within the complex Ultrasound Imaging environment. Leads staff in navigating the complex patient population, is cognizant of age-specific standards, supports patient and family-centered care (PFCC), as demonstrated by working with patients and their families based on the 4 principles of PFCC: participation, dignity and respect, information sharing, and collaboration. This includes providing service excellence by creating a great "First Impression" by demonstrating exemplary customer service skills for all customer groups including patients, families/friends, physicians, staff, and support department personnel. Responsibilities

  1. Assist with various administrative tasks to achieve the goals of the department as it pertains to service excellence, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and employee/patient relations as noted by the US manager. a. Assist the manager in communicating relevant service, quality, or compliance information to staff in a timely manner. Ensure and/or document staff's understanding as necessary. b. Routinely act as a liaison between physicians, patients, technical staff, and management, taking initiative to resolve issues and achieve service recovery when necessary. Report issues back to the manager in a timely manner. c. Provide the manager with regular feedback regarding staff performance.
  1. Assist the US manager with staff schedules, making adjustments as needed to ensure proper staffing levels sufficient to achieve quality patient care and efficient operations. a. Assist with creating staff schedules, shifts, or work assignments as needed. b. Interact with physicians, technologists, and support staff in other delivery networks to ensure proper scheduling and high-priority scan performance.
  1. Assist the US manager with patient schedules, making adjustments as needed to ensure all patients are seen in a timely manner (ideally within 24-48 hours). a. Collaborate with providers, schedulers, Call Center, and Fetal Therapy Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate scheduling for high-risk patients when needed.
  1. Assist with oversight of the environment of care, supply inventory, equipment maintenance, and QC procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care. a. Proactively contact senior engineers, work calls for technical support as imaging equipment issues occur, and document or report service calls to the manager. b. Order supplies weekly consistent with exam volume and established par levels as documented by all areas. c. Coach staff to minimize supply waste.
  1. Perform a variety of technical and professional tasks: a. Perform US when needed. b. Follow routine protocols proficient in advanced imaging.
  1. Perform various clerical, record-keeping, and QA tasks to maintain integrity and completeness of the AS and PACS patient record and billing.
  1. Participate in learning, teaching, and research opportunities to further personal knowledge and expertise for oneself or others.
  1. Follow established safety precautions and procedures in all duties to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications

Education: Baccalaureate Degree (Master's preferred). Associate (AS) degree considered but contingent upon completion of BA or BS degree within 18 months of hire.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years as a Perinatal Diagnostic Sonographer in a high-risk setting. Demonstrates leadership ability, is a strong team member, and can navigate a diverse population and large workload.

Licensure: Certification in Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging for OB/GYN, Fetal ECHO, and Nuchal Translucency.

Special Skills: Level 1 and 2, follow-up growth, GYN, and multiple Doppler scans. Certified in Fetal ECHO scanning. Must have excellent communication, organizational, and technical skills. Demonstrates collaborative and leadership abilities.

Physical Demand: Travel to off-sites may be required based on staffing needs.
