Job summary

Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) in Glen Allen, VA, is looking for a Payroll Accountant to lead our bi-weekly payroll process. You will ensure accurate payroll, reconcile accounts, and liaise with HR and employees on payroll matters.

The role also handles monthly journal entries, general ledger and fixed asset records for RHI and TEC Trading, and supports annual budgets and audits. Strong Excel, GAAP/SOX knowledge and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related major required.
• Minimum 5 years general accounting experience.
• Minimum 3 years payroll processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead accountant for ODEC’s bi-weekly payroll processing and proper classification of compensation components.
• Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for payroll and benefits.
• Record monthly entries in general ledger and fixed asset ledgers for RHI & TEC Trading; prepare monthly financial reports.
• Review accounts receivable and accounts payable for RHI & TEC Trading; assist with SOX updates.
• Assist Manager of General Accounting with SOX narrative updates.
• Prepare and present annual operating budget for RHI and input into JDE after approval; oversee year-end reviews.
• Prepare year-end schedules for ODEC audits and assist in annual budget preparation.
• Prepare Purchased Power & Gas invoices for wire payments in JDE.
• Complete payroll-related 10K workpapers and FERC schedules.
