Job Summary and Qualifications

The Lead Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated basic patient care services related to nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the Lead PCT assists in patient care, performs or assists with advanced procedures based on specialty certifications, and trains new staff. The Lead PCT ensures effective communication of new processes and equipment to team members.

Responsibilities
  1. Implement nursing care plans through direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision.
  2. Record initial and ongoing patient information, including vital signs, intake/output, and other data per policy.
  3. Assist with mobility, transfers, discharges, and use of mobility aids, demonstrating proper body mechanics.
  4. Support activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, grooming, and elimination, and change linens as needed.
  5. Conduct hourly rounding, respond promptly to patient requests, and anticipate needs.
  6. Engage in best practices to enhance patient safety and experience, including safety rounding and effective communication techniques.
  7. Participate in orientation and precepting of new PCTs to ensure unit standards are maintained.
Qualifications
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
