Lead Pathology Assistant – St. Helena, CA is seeking a professional to process and examine pathological specimens and support the pathology department across surgical pathology, histology, cytology, and autopsy procedures.
Responsibilities include gross examination and dissection, autopsy assistance, preparation of histology/cytology specimens, thorough documentation, transcription and charge monitoring, and maintaining CLIA-compliant quality in a clean, organized workspace.
Job Summary:
Responsible for processing and examining pathological specimens and supporting the pathology department with surgical pathology, histology, cytology, and autopsy procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform gross examination and dissection of pathology specimens.
Assist with autopsies and prepare related reports.
Support histology and cytology specimen preparation.
Complete pathology documentation, transcription, and charge monitoring.
Maintain quality and compliance with CLIA standards.
Maintain a clean and organized pathology work area.
Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED – Required
Associate/Technical Degree – Preferred
3+ years of Pathology experience – Preferred
ASCP certification or equivalent – Preferred
