Job summary

PathGroup in Nashville, TN is seeking a Pathologist Assistant Manager to lead the grossing staff, supervise surgical pathology workflow from accession to dissection, and collaborate with Administration, Pathologists, Transcription, Histology, and other PathGroup departments.

The role emphasizes quality improvement, policy development, safety, compliance, and staff training, with a focus on timely turnaround and adherence to privacy and security policies.

Qualifications

• Formal Pathologist Assistant Training program completed.
• Bachelor degree as a Pathologist Assistant required.
• ASCP or equivalent certification required.

Responsibilities

• Dissect and submit appropriate sections of surgical pathology specimens and dictate gross descriptions.
• Supervise workflow for surgical specimens once accessioned and through gross dissection.
• Act as liaison for PAs to Administration, Pathologists, Transcription, Histology, and other PathGroup departments and facilities.
• Participate in laboratory performance improvement activities and evaluate new equipment/procedures.
• Perform personnel duties: interviewing, hiring, scheduling, evaluations, training, and supervising grossing staff.
• Create and update grossing SOPs and protocols.
• Monitor workflow and adjust as needed to maintain quality, productivity and turnaround times.
• Ensure lab safety and adherence to procedures and privacy/security policies.
• Support PathGroup's mission, vision, and management decisions.
