Job summary

Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, Inc. seeks a senior patent attorney to lead and manage IP activities for the R&D organization in the USA. You will counsel on invention protection, portfolio development, publication strategy, and third-party risks while coordinating with global teams. The role requires a J.D.

degree, U.S. bar admission, and a Ph.D. in chemistry (or related field) with 7+ years of experience in pharma/biotech patent law.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree with bar admission (U.S. patent bar a plus).
• Ph.D. strongly preferred in chemistry or closely related field.
• 7+ years as a qualified patent attorney in pharma/biotech.
• Expertise in U.S. and PCT patent law and prosecution practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic IP counsel to R&D clients on invention protection and portfolio development.
• Build and manage patent portfolios across NME, processes, manufacturing, platforms and clinical developments.
• Render opinions on patentability, validity, and freedom to operate; develop IP strategies.
