Job description

Under the general direction of the council and the explicit guidance of the elders, the lead pastor provides spiritual and organizational leadership. The role includes serving as a teacher and vision leader for the congregation, aligned with our mission of “Developing authentic relationships with Jesus Christ.” The lead pastor is responsible for leading the staff, building a strong leadership team, and holding a central position on the board of elders.

Position Qualifications:

Education and experience

• Four-year degree, preferably from a Christian college
• Completion of a seminary program recognized by the Christian Reformed Church
• Documented continuing education (preferred)
• Internship at a Reformed church (preferred)
• Experience in a community outreach-oriented church
• Experience in restoring those who have drifted away back into a relationship with Jesus Christ
• Experience in introducing searching and hurting individuals to Jesus Christ
• Experience in balancing community outreach with nurturing and discipleship
• Fulfillment of synodical regulations for ordained pastors seeking a call to a CRC church

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Willingness and ability to work with diverse social, educational, and financial backgrounds
• Practiced oratory skills and pulpit mannerisms
• Ability to cast vision
• Organizational skills to enhance church ministries
• Strong knowledge of the Bible
• Effective communication of faith
• Willingness to seek and give wise counsel
