Qualifications

  • Requires a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to church doctrine.
  • Formal education in Biblical Studies or Christian Ministry is required.
  • Pastoral or Christian Ministry experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Preaching/Teaching/Worship: provide applicable preaching of God’s word.
  • Plan cohesive worship services including music, liturgy, Bible reading, and prayer.
  • Administer sacraments during church services and lead spiritual formation.
  • Provide pastoral care for the sick, elderly, and suffering in partnership with others.
  • Be accessible to members and visitors through office, appointments, and visitations.
  • Conduct funerals, premarital counseling, weddings, and baptisms with team support.
  • Offer prayer, comfort, and counseling during crises.
  • Articulate and promote the church vision and mission to congregation and community.
  • Support ministry teams with guidance and insight.
  • Encourage church-wide fellowship and use of gifts to serve.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and visionary Pastor to lead our congregation. We seek a Pastor who puts Jesus first in personal and ministry life. To align with our vision and ministry plan, we need an emotionally mature leader who has experience in small group ministry and can equip others with discipleship and evangelism skills. The Pastor needs to be Holy Spirit driven, creative, willing to take appropriate risk, compassionate, and be a strong communicator with verified proficiency in pastoral leadership. The ideal candidate will provide spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and administrative oversight. This role requires a deep commitment to our church’s mission, strong leadership skills, and the ability to inspire and engage our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preaching/Teaching/Worship: Provide applicable preaching of God’s word ensuring adherence to Biblical truths and Pleasant Chapel’s bylaws and beliefs.
  • Plan cohesive worship services which include music, liturgy, Bible reading, and prayer.
  • Be responsible for prayer, preaching, and administration of the sacraments during the church service.
  • Lead and promote spiritual formation within the church.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral care for the sick, elderly, and suffering in partnership with other members.
  • Be available and accessible to members of and outside of the congregation through the use of the church office, appointments, and visitation.
  • Conduct funerals, premarital counseling, weddings, and baptisms, and provide related pastoral care in collaboration with other members of the church.
  • Offer prayer, comfort, and counseling to people who face crises or difficult circumstances.
  • Administration and Leadership: Articulate and promote the vision and mission of the church to the congregation and community.
  • Provide assistance and insight to ministry teams.
  • Encourage community within the church.
  • Encourage members to use their gifts to serve the church and help others grow in faith.
Qualifications
  • A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to living out Christian values in accordance with the doctrine and bylaws of Pleasant Chapel Community Church.
  • A formal education in Biblical Studies or Christian Ministry required.
  • Pastoral or Christian Ministry experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to pastoral care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and gratefully with church staff and volunteers.
  • Must be theologically sound and in agreement with the beliefs of the church as found in Articles 1-4 in the bylaws and will teach, preach, and act in manners that reflect those beliefs.
