Job description

Position: Lead Pastor, Full-time or Bi-Vocational

Description

Snake River Community Church (SRCC) in Baggs, WY is seeking a lead pastor. Candidates (and families) must be comfortable in an extremely rural environment serving a small church with a wide range of ages and spiritual maturity. We have several families with young children, so a desire to help guide church leadership in children’s ministries is a must. We are not seeking a pastor that can do it all, but rather a pastor that can guide and direct us as we seek to serve our church and our community.

Qualifications
  • Must fulfill all leadership qualifications of an elder as laid out in 1 Tim 3:2-7 and Titus 1:6-9, and be recognized by other elders/pastors as meeting these qualifications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a passion for serving the Lord through a multigenerational congregation and providing guidance in the church’s mission through various ministries.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure in a loving and respectful manner with both the church and the outside community.
Responsibilities and Expectations
  • The Pastor of SRCC is not individually expected to perform all the work of this ministry, but rather to “equip” and “build up” the saints for the work of the ministry (Eph 4:11-12), to stimulate the body to love and good deeds (Heb 10:24).
  • He must agree with the doctrines of this church https://www.snakerivercommunitychurch.com/what-we-believe; please note this website is not mobile device compatible and shepherd the flock by example in a kind and gentle manner. (1 Peter 5:1-3)
  • The fundamental role for the Pastor of SRCC is to develop and deliver engaging and exegetical, biblically-based sermons every week.
  • The SRCC pastor will also be responsible for providing pastoral care to members of the congregation and surrounding community, including visiting the sick, counseling those in need, and offering support during times of crisis. Additionally, he may be asked to officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, etc. as needed.
  • He will also be expected to facilitate and encourage spiritual growth and discipleship through the development, implementation, and guidance of raising up elders, prayer meetings, bible studies, children’s ministries, and other programs.
  • Furthermore, the SRCC pastor should engage and build relationships within the local community, participating in outreach and mission activities, and foster collaboration with other organizations, as biblically appropriate, to address community needs.
Compensation and Benefits

Ideally, the pastor would serve the role full-time; however, we understand there could be reasonable financial needs for the candidate to be bi-vocational. The base salary is $2500/month plus paid vacation. In addition to this base, housing will be provided in the church parsonage (recently appraised at $1,200/month) with basic utilities and internet included. Moving expenses may be negotiable. Additional compensation may become available as the Lord provides. The church cannot give specific tax advice, but we strongly recommend speaking with a tax expert to fully understand the tax burdens of a pastor under this type of compensation plan.
