Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Lead Medical Care Transportation Technician/Paramedic to supervise a team of Paramedics and EMTs within the VA Ambulance Service.

You will lead daily operations, assign workload, ensure high-quality out-of-hospital care, and coordinate trainings and schedules to maintain 24/7 coverage. You will administer basic and advanced life support in the field, operate EMS vehicles, and maintain accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Requires Paramedic licensure/certification
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• Valid unrestricted state driver’s license
• Time-in-Grade requirements for current federal employees
• Experience leading paramedics and EMTs, coordinating training and scheduling

Responsibilities

• Identifies, distributes, and balances workload among Paramedics and EMTs per workflow and priorities
• Train and develop EMTs/Paramedics; coordinate team training
• Schedule Paramedics/EMTs to ensure Ambulance Service coverage
• Resolves simple issues; reports significant problems to supervisor
• Prepare reports and maintain records of work accomplishments
• Oversee process improvements and customer service within Ambulance Service
• Respond to on-site emergencies; perform triage and administer basic/advanced life support as needed
• Operate emergency vehicles and medical equipment; ensure safety and compliance
