Job summary

Harris County ESD 11 is seeking a Lead Paramedic to deliver high‑quality prehospital care in a demanding, safety‑sensitive environment. You will assess calls, provide emergency and non‑emergency care, lead scenes, and coordinate patient transport with strong attention to protocols and documentation.

The role requires Texas paramedic certification, CPR by AHA, a valid Texas driver’s license, and proven lead‑level EMS experience in a 911 system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• At least two years’ experience as a lead paramedic in a progressive 911 system.
• Completion of a qualified Paramedic program and certification in Texas.
• Maintain current Texas Driver’s License.
• Current American Heart Association CPR card.
• NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800.
• Effective communication in English.
• Ability to read maps and public roadways.
• Knowledge of Texas Administrative Code 157.
• Knowledge of EMS rules and policies.
• Not excluded by OIG for federally funded programs.

Responsibilities

• Render non-emergency and emergency pre-hospital care.
• Assess each call to determine action and protocol.
• Develop triage skills for efficient calls.
• Act as team leader during scene management.
• Determine transport destinations per patient needs.
• Utilize medical equipment and medications per protocols.
• Attend required continuing education with Medical Directors Office.
• Maintain all required certifications and licensure.
• Communicate with management and field resources clearly.
• Document required information accurately in records.
