Job summary

OnTrac is hiring a Lead Package Handler in Louisville, KY. This seasonal role oversees the offloading, loading, and sorting of packages, and works with Area and Operations Managers to train new hires and uphold company values.

The position requires lifting up to 150 lbs with pallet jack use, at least 1 year of industry experience, and 18+ years of age. Compensation is $19.95/hour with a 4:30 AM–10:30 AM Tuesday–Saturday shift, October 31, 2026 to January 2, 2027, with potential changes based on

This position plays a crucial role in overseeing the offloading, loading, and sorting of packages for distribution. Our Package Handler Leads are the ultimate team players. They work closely with Area and Operations Managers to train new hires, support business metrics, and uphold company values.

Location: 7645 National Tpke, Unit 190, Louisville, KY

Compensation: $19.95/hour

Shift(s): Tuesday-Saturday 4:30 AM – 10:30 AM

Duration: This Seasonal Role is expected to take place from 10/31/26 until 1/2/27

What you need to bring:

Your mission in motion:

• You will promote a safe work environment by enforcing company safety protocols, including dock, conveyor, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• You will train and guide package handlers, providing hands‑on demonstrations and ongoing performance feedback.
• You will oversee package handling, sorting, and inspection processes to ensure accuracy, prevent damage, and avoid misroutes.
• You will monitor equipment functionality, submit maintenance requests, and manage damaged freight according to company procedures.
• You will check in and check out third‑party drivers, verify credentials, and ensure proper documentation and manifest accuracy.

Your primary responsibilities:

• You will load and unload packages from trailers, conveyor belts, and sortation equipment.
• You will sort, scan, and route parcels to designated areas based on destination or route.
• You will provide guidance and direction to package handlers during assigned shifts.
• You will assist with onboarding and training new team members.
• You will monitor workflow and help balance labor to meet volume and service timelines.
• You will reinforce safety practices, proper lifting techniques, and compliance with procedures.
• You will identify and communicate performance issues, productivity gaps, or operational concerns.
• You will serve as a point of contact for operational questions and issue escalation.

Your knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• You bring strong knowledge of package handling and sortation workflows.
• You possess the ability to lead by example in safety, productivity, and attendance.
• You bring effective communication and basic coaching skills.
• You have the ability to problem‑solve in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
• You are comfortable providing direction to peers and supporting leadership initiatives.

Physical and work environment requirements:

Your working environment will primarily be in a warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and moving equipment. You will engage in frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, and handling packages throughout your shift. You must have sufficient visual and auditory ability to safely navigate the warehouse, identify hazards, and communicate effectively in a noisy environment.
