Job summary

OnTrac in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Peak Lead Package Handler to oversee offload/load and sort operations. You will train new hires, monitor safety, and drive performance metrics in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

The role requires leadership experience, ability to lift 25–35 lbs regularly, and availability for a Thursday–Monday shift from early morning. Seasonal assignment through late December with potential for extensions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 1 year of industry experience.
• 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
• Able to regularly lift, push, and pull 25 to 35 lbs, occasionally carry up to 50 lbs, and occasionally push or pull up to 150 lbs with a pallet jack or equipment.
• You must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe work environment by enforcing safety protocols.
• Train and guide package handlers with hands-on demonstrations and feedback.

OnTrac is hiring a Peak Lead Package Handler in Knoxville, TN!

This position plays a crucial role in overseeing the offloading, loading, and sorting of packages for distribution. Our Package Handler Leads are the ultimate team players. They work closely with Area and Operations Managers to train new hires, support business metrics, and uphold company values.

Location: 10738 Dutchtown Rd., Knoxville, TN

Compensation: The compensation for this role is based off your current base pay rate plus a $5/hour premium.

Shift(s): Thursday through Monday from 3:45 AM to 12:15 PM

Duration: This Seasonal Role is expected to take place from 10/24/26 until 12/26/26.
NOTE: Role duration and scheduled hours may change based on business needs.

What you need to bring:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

• Ability to regularly lift, push, and pull 25 to 35 lbs, occasionally carry up to 50 lbs, and occasionally push or pull up to 150 lbs using a pallet jack or gaylords to transport large packages.
• You must be at least 18 years of age.

Your mission in motion:

• You will promote a safe work environment by enforcing company safety protocols, including dock, conveyor, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• You will train and guide package handlers, providing hands-on demonstrations and ongoing performance feedback.
• You will oversee package handling, sorting, and inspection processes to ensure accuracy, prevent damage, and avoid misroutes.
• You will monitor equipment functionality, submit maintenance requests, and manage damaged freight according to company procedures.
• You will check in and check out third-party drivers, verify credentials, and ensure proper documentation and manifest accuracy.

Your primary responsibilities:

• You will load and unload packages from trailers, conveyor belts, and sortation equipment.
• You will sort, scan, and route parcels to designated areas based on destination or route.
• You will provide guidance and direction to package handlers during assigned shifts.
• You will assist with onboarding and training new team members.
• You will monitor workflow and help balance labor to meet volume and service timelines.
• You will reinforce safety practices, proper lifting techniques, and compliance with procedures.
• You will identify and communicate performance issues, productivity gaps, or operational concerns.
• You will serve as a point of contact for operational questions and issue escalation.

Your knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• You bring strong knowledge of package handling and sortation workflows.
• You possess the ability to lead by example in safety, productivity, and attendance.
• You bring effective communication and basic coaching skills.
• You have the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• You are comfortable providing direction to peers and supporting leadership initiatives.

Physical and work environment requirements:

Your working environment will primarily be in a warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and moving equipment. You will engage in frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, and handling packages throughout your shift. You must have sufficient visual and auditory ability to safely navigate the warehouse, identify hazards, and communicate effectively in a noisy environment.
