Job description

Lead Orthodontic Assistant - Traveling

Full Time

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Lead Orthodontic Assistant will support doctors during treatment exams and all necessary functions. Lead RDAs are required to mentor, train and guide new and existing team members, as well as grow and challenge themselves.

This position will be responsible for and do the following:

  • Greet and prepare patients for dental care
  • Assist the orthodontist at the chair while they are engaged in any treatment of patients
  • Anticipate the orthodontist's needs and be prepared for the next steps
  • Removal and placement of arch wires
  • Tooth preparation prior to bonding
  • Accurate computer charting
  • Sterilization of chairs and instruments
  • Responsible for oral hygiene instructions
  • Placement and removal of brackets
  • Take panoramic and cephalometric x-rays as well as oral photographs
  • Undertake lab tasks as instructed

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and dental procedures
  • Familiar with sterilization
  • Familiar with OSHA guidelines and procedures
  • Experience in a professional environment with direct patient contact preferred
  • Previous experience required
