Job summary

Ash Group is seeking a Lead Opto Electronics Engineer for a full-time, onsite role in Niwot, CO. The position focuses on designing ultra-low-noise front-end electronics for optical detection systems and leading photonics development.

The successful candidate will mentor engineers, define detector requirements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance instrumentation programs, with a salary up to $170,000 W2.

Qualifications

• MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of relevant experience in optoelectronics or photonics.
• Experience taking a concept from concept to market.
• Strong optoelectronics/photonics and electrical engineering background.
• Deep understanding of photonic detector devices and electronics.
• Experience with very low light detection systems and low-noise amplifier design.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop ultra low noise, high signal to noise analog front end electronics for optical detection systems.
• Define requirements and specifications for photonic detectors in collaboration with vendors.
• Lead development and evaluation of optical imaging and light collection systems for weak-signal environments.
• Analyze detector physics, noise sources, and system-level performance limitations.
• Research and evaluate emerging photonics and detector technologies to guide R&D direction.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to engineering and research staff.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support advanced instrumentation development programs.
• Continuously evaluate processes for improvements in efficiency, quality, and performance.

Summary

The Ash Group is hiring a Lead Opto Electronics Engineer (24682) for our client who designs and manufactures equipment and software to monitor micro-contamination in cleanrooms and ultra-clean manufacturing environments . This is a full-time position working in Niwot, CO (Onsite). We are offering a salary up to 170K W2, based on skill set.

• Compensation: Up to $165-170K W2 based on skill set

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and develop ultra low noise, high signal to noise analog front end electronics for optical detection systems
• Define requirements and specifications for photonic detectors (photodiodes, APDs, SPADs, SiPMs, and arrays) in collaboration with vendors
• Lead development and evaluation of optical imaging and light collection systems for weak?signal environments
• Analyze detector physics, noise sources, and system?level performance limitations
• Research and evaluate emerging photonics and detector technologies to guide R&D direction
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to engineering and research staff
• Collaborate with cross?functional teams to support advanced instrumentation development programs
• Continuously evaluate processes for improvements in efficiency, quality, and performance

What We’re Looking For

• Must have 15+ years of relevant experience, potentially a combination of disciplines
• Experience taking a product/idea from concept/zero through development and into the market is required
• Strong optoelectronics/photonics and electrical engineering background is a must
• Must have a MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, or related field
• Significant experience in: Very low level light detection systems; Low noise amplifier design and circuit architecture; Precision PCB layout for sensitive analog systems; and Optical detection and imaging systems
• Deep understanding of photonic detector devices and associated electronics is required
