Job summary

Nokia in Sunnyvale seeks an individual contributor engineer to design and simulate advanced optical/optoelectronic designs and control systems for high reliability and manufacturability. You will design, implement and validate controls for digital coherent optical modules, and evaluate entire optical systems to ensure product requirements are met.

The role requires a Ph.D. in Electrical or Optical Engineering with extensive experience in photonic devices, control systems, and strong

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Electrical or Optical Engineering with 10 years of experience.
  • Experience with fundamental and advanced photonic device design and characterization techniques.
  • Experience with control systems design desirable.
  • Software development skills desirable (C, Python, MATLAB or other).
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, ability to learn quickly and move fast.

Responsibilities

  • Individual contributor engineering position responsible for design and simulation of advanced optical/optoelectronic designs and control systems to ensure high reliability and manufacturability.
  • Design, implement and validate controls for digital coherent optical modules.
  • Evaluate entire optical system including PIC, optics, control electronics, high-speed electronics to determine if overall system design will meet product requirements.
