Job summary

Barry Callebaut Manufacturing Iberica SA is hiring a Team Lead, Production to manage day-to-day operations on the 12-hour rotating shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. You will supervise hourly personnel, ensure safety, GMP, HACCP, and coordinate with the Plant Production Supervisor.

You will train and coach team members, handle performance issues, assign sanitation duties, troubleshoot equipment, and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalency and a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a food-manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient English language skills, both written and oral.
  • SAP and MS Office software knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations of the assigned shift, coordinating work activities for hourly and temporary employees and ensuring efficient equipment operation.
  • Organize day-to-day shift operations, assign sanitation duties, troubleshoot machines, and reassign staff as needed.
  • Coach and support team members, conduct briefings, and assess performance of employees and temporaries.
  • Coordinate cross-training for shift personnel to cover production areas.
  • Communicate with Production Supervisors and coordinate between work areas.

About the role:

The Team Lead, Production is responsible for the day-to-day operations of his/her assigned shift. In conjunction with the Plant Production Supervisor, this position will oversee production activities of hourly personnel and oversee machine operation. This position will train, coach, and problem solve with team members; communicate timely and relevant information to team members and supervisors in a thorough manner; and demonstrate ownership in plant and food safety, including all regulatory requirements. This position also keeps control of the Good Manufacturing Practices, Safety, Quality, Customer Service and team processes.

Schedule:

12-hour rotating shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

  • Week 1: Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday
  • Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Key responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for the operations of assigned shift, including coordinating work activities for hourly and temporary employees, supporting efficient equipment operation, providing adequate personnel training, handling personnel issues, and communicating relevant information to Production Supervisors.
  • Responsible for the organization of the day-to-day operations of the shift, including assignment of sanitation duties, machine troubleshooting, and reassignment of team members as needed.
  • Coach and support each team member and facilitate brief team meetings as needed, including employee and temporary employee work assessments.
  • Assign or complete cross-training activities for shift personnel to be able to work in the production areas.
  • Confer with team production leads to coordinate operations and activities within or between work areas.
  • Complete completion of all shift paperwork is done promptly.
  • Enforce company policies, safety standards, GMP standards and HACCP.
  • Oversee maintenance of clean and sanitary conditions according to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect and document defects, malfunctions and questions.
  • Confirm production orders in SAP, if needed.
  • Routinely suggest and implement improvements in assigned areas.
  • Participate in process improvement training, safety training or committee work, a lean team or other committee work.
  • Take responsibility for assigned duties and perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor promptly.
About you:
  • High School diploma or equivalency and a minimum of two years of appropriate supervisory experience in a food-manufacturing environment. Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Proficient English language skills, both written and oral.
  • Computer knowledge in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP (desirable).
