Merck invites an Associate Principal Scientist to join the Oncology health economic modeling team within the Health Economic and Decision Sciences group (BARDS). The role emphasizes predictive and economic modeling to quantify the value of oncology therapies for patients, providers, and payers.

Preferred location is West Point, PA, with flexibility for Rahway, NJ; Boston, MA; UK or Switzerland. Hybrid work arrangements are possible per local policy and business needs.

Qualifications

• PhD (preferred) or Master's degree in Health Economics, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Actuarial Sciences or a closely related quantitative field.
• Relevant work experience in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) beyond degree.
• Experience in economic evaluation of oncology drugs and interventions.
• Track record of submissions to Health Technology Assessment bodies and publications in peer‑reviewed venues.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the BARDS HEDS lead for one or more Value and Implementation teams to develop health economic, disease, and predictive models to enable business insights for the product.
• Utilize discovery, real world evidence, clinical trial and published data to provide economic and integrated models to answer key questions in all phases of drug and vaccine development.
• Advance the use of integrated quantitative approaches focusing on economic, disease, and predictive modeling and simulation in partnership with other internal groups and external organizations.
• Develop and maintain health economic models and tools in-house or with external vendors to demonstrate the value of our products.
• Support and training of HEDS models to adapt for country/regional teams and external stakeholders.
• Disseminate health economic data via congresses and publications.
• Collaborate with external thought leaders and internal teams to ensure new methodologies and models are utilized.
