Job summary

S.C. Department of Public Health seeks a WIC Nutrition Team Leader to manage nutrition services at the Health Department, plan and supervise staff, and ensure program quality and outreach.

Responsibilities include certifying participants, providing nutrition education, guiding staff, and coordinating with healthcare teams to improve WIC participation and service delivery across the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, or related field.
• Registered or licensure by the American Dietetics Association may be required.
• Experience in clinical/public health or institutional settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate WIC nutrition services at the Health Department.
• Provide normal and therapeutic nutrition services for the WIC program.
• Assist with WIC quality assurance reviews for nutrition services.
• Recruit, hire, orient, train and supervise Nutritionists IIs and CPA staff.
• Provide nutrition oversight, program support, and conduct clinic audits as required.
• Engage in outreach to providers and the community to increase WIC participation.
• Complete WIC certifications and midcertifications with health histories and assessments.
• Provide participant-centered nutrition education, counseling, and follow-up.
• Prescribe and explain WIC food packages; issue benefits and monitor formulas.
• Promote breastfeeding; provide promotion and support to pregnant and breastfeeding women.
