Job summary

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery at the Illinois Department of Human Services seeks a licensed Registered Nurse to oversee and supervise a medical program unit at Chester Mental Health Center. The role includes supervision of professional nursing staff and coordination of patient care within a structured setting.

Qualifications

• Requires licensure as an Illinois Registered Nurse.
• Requires completion of four years of college with coursework in nursing.
• Requires three years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Nurse Manager functioning as head nurse of a unit and providing Nursing Care Services.
• Full-line supervisor responsibilities.
• Relief facility-wide supervisor; inputs into nursing schedules and staffing shortages.
• Ensures compliance with nursing, facility and departmental standards, policies and procedures.
• Coordinates patient care with physicians, therapists and dieticians.
• Prepares and administers prescribed medications.
• Provides health/education in-services on CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, Restraints, First Aid, etc.
• Screening nurse during admission procedures.
• Member of the medical staff.
• Performs other duties within the enumerated scope.
