Job summary

Qualifications

  • Certification in NMTCB or ARRT(N) is required or eligible.
  • Educational programs must include structured clinical training in radiation safety and procedures.
  • Grandfathering provisions may apply for current VA employees in this occupation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise nuclear medicine technologists, manage schedules and leave time.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceutical doses and injections as prescribed.
  • Operate gamma cameras, well counters and dose calibrators; maintain equipment.
  • Explain procedures to patients, collect data, and document results in the chart.
  • Develop/update imaging protocols; ensure quality, safety and ALARA compliance.
  • Instruct students and staff; assist with billing and workload documentation.
