Job summary

Radiant, based in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Lead Nuclear Materials Engineer to guide Radiant’s nuclear materials team in the development, testing, and qualification of materials for the Kaleidos 1MWe reactor.

You will own the materials program end‑to‑end, mentor engineers, liaise with design and operations, and present to regulators. This 100% onsite role offers substantial equity, comprehensive health benefits, and the opportunity to help deploy safe, mass‑produced nuclear power.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in development, testing, and/or analysis of nuclear materials.
• Hands-on experimental or testing experience in lab or production environments.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for the nuclear materials team and define project scopes.
• Deliver materials solutions for fuel, moderator, shielding, and neutron poison designs for Kaleidos.
• Accountable for the team’s technical output and quality.
• Lead and mentor team members technically and professionally.
• Communicate project status and schedules to teammates and executives.
• Present to external stakeholders and regulatory bodies (DOE, NRC).
• Review test plans, purchase orders, and analysis.
• Manage irradiation testing from design through PIE.
