Job summary

Vistar is seeking a Warehouse Associate to support the warehouse team under the direction of the warehouse manager, ensuring safe, efficient operation and accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory processes.

The role requires 1–2 years in a warehouse/distribution setting, ability to lift 10–35 lbs (up to 80 lbs occasionally), forklift/pallet jack proficiency, and flexibility for overtime. Day 1 benefits and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years in warehouse or distribution environment.
• Able to work scheduled times and overtime.
• Able to work in multi-temperature environment.
• Physically able to lift 10–35 lbs and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
• Pre-employment drug test required.
• Basic MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety policies and maintain a safe work area.
• Prepare daily production paperwork and organize operations.
• Wear required PPE and perform forklift/pallet jack safety checks.
• Meet productivity and accuracy standards.
• Assist with duties in emergencies and general warehouse tasks.
• Perform receiving, shipping, put-away, replenishment, returns, and audits as needed.
• Provide supervision and input to associates in assigned area.
• Keep dock and trailers clean and orderly.

Position Summary

Oversees and provides guidance to the warehouse crew under direction of warehouse manager/supervisor, maintain warehouse work areas, assists with shipping and receiving functions in a timely manner, observing all safety regulations and ensuring all quality standards are met while maintaining the efficient flow of product through the production process. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duties assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities

• Follow all preferred work methods, safety policies and procedures per company guidelines. Ensure work area is safe and report any unsafe conditions and/or acts immediately.
• Obtain work schedule and daily production paperwork and prepare for operations.
• Put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear.
• Perform daily safety check of the assigned forklift / pallet jack in accordance with company policy.
• Meet required productivity and accuracy standards per location and company guidelines.
• Assist warehouse crew with duties in emergency and non-emergency situations.
• Perform damage control checks on items received and contact supervisor about removing items according to company policy.
• Perform selection, shipping, receiving, forklift put-away/replenishment, returns, auditing and/or other warehouse duties per business need.
• Provide oversight, direction and input on work performed by associates in assigned area.
• Perform general housekeeping duties and keep warehouse area, loading dock and trailers clear and clean as required. Remove batteries requiring recharging, replace with charged batteries and complete vehicle inspection checklist. At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
• Provide backup support to warehouse management
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
• 1-2 years of warehouse and/or distribution environment
• Must be able to work the scheduled / assigned times and required overtime for the position
• Able to work in a multi-temperature environment (dry, cooler, freezer)
• Must be able to stand, walk, reach and lift repeatedly throughout shift
• Able to lift and stack product between 10-35 pounds and up to 80 pounds occasionally throughout shift
• Pass pre-employment drug test
• Basic computer skills to include MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

• 2-4 years of warehouse and/or distribution environment using forklift and/or pallet jack
• Team Lead experience
• Administrative support work experience
• Warehouse systems experience i.e. Voxware, scanning, AS400, formula based pay plans
• Foodservice distribution or related industry experience
• OSHA Forklift operator certificate
